SwimSafer Intermediate Stroke Development Lessons

Introduction to Water Confidence

Start your SwimSafer Beginner Water Confidence Training by learning how to feel calm and in control around the pool. We introduce clear goals for each session and set simple check-ins to track progress. With gentle guidance, learners explore shallow water at their own pace to build a positive first impression.

Safe Pool Entry and Exit

Discover reliable ways to enter and exit the pool without stress. You will practice seated and ladder entries, keeping hands on secure holds and eyes on depth markers. Repeating these steps builds predictable routines that reduce anxiety and set up every practice for success.

Breath Control and Face-In Water Skills

Breath control is the foundation of confidence. Learners practice bubble blowing with face in, slow nose exhalation, and relaxed mouth breathing at the surface. Consistent rhythms help manage nerves and make submersion and resurfacing feel smooth and safe.

Floating and Body Position Fundamentals

Mastering a comfortable float teaches trust in buoyancy. We use simple cues—ears in, hips up, eyes on the ceiling—to find balance on the back and hold a star position. As stability improves, gentle sculling adds control without strain.

Kicking and Propulsion for Beginners

Begin with a streamlined body and a relaxed flutter kick driven from the hips. Short sets with a kickboard emphasize steady ankles and small, continuous movements. Gradually adding distance and timing with breathing turns movement into momentum and confidence.
